"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Once More Into The Breach

Once upon a time, if I said or did something my mum and dad disapproved of, they'd say to me: 'One day, you'll be old enough to have a sofa of your own and then you'll know better'. Well, Good Morning, Starshine.

I know zilch when it comes to computers but when it comes to wetting my finger & spitting in the wind, trawling the blogs and journos, I'm bang on.

I dislike many things: an early frost; a cloudy night; petty regulation; over-weening governance; cold toes; spiders; running out of the wherewithal to make a cup of tea.

I hate: foreigners who live in England who don't know our history and who blame 'England' for having a colonial past; how the UK Parliament at Westminster has been and is still being used as shorthand for 'England'.

What makes me sad? The usual: cruelty; the general lack of involvement in politics; a personal lack of foresight; Bobo being buried in Spain; Jazz dying without feeling the sunshine on his back again.

What makes me angry? MPs being whipped to follow a Party line and being chosen by Head Office; people believing everything they're told; journos unable to decide whether they write to inform or write to report; the slavish obeisance at the alter of the BBC, the NHS and the media; lack of accountability.

What makes me happy? People standing up for themselves against bureaucracy and over-weening government; reading other blogs and knowing that many others feel the same; open sky; grass; handfuls of earth...

In short, I'm everything against harmonisation and all for the individual. I don't want a tag, a tattoo or an implant; I won't be herded, corralled or penned; I won't have ten local authority-approved recycling bins; I will not have a wind turbine in my back yard because govt says so; I won't fill in any forms. In other words: I won't 'come along quietly.'

All I ask of life is that the State leaves me alone to live in peace and not take more more in taxation than the pig I can afford.  If the State wants more, it should ask my permission to grab another pig.  According to some pundits the state already takes seventy pigs out of every hundred we tend and nurture  - so the current system can't hold.

England: Over-populated; crime-ridden; ghettos; no-go areas for the police in major cities and a government that presents an increase of GBR contributions to the EU budget as a reason to celebrate.  No-one asked me if I wanted this.

I can't believe how Cameron & Co are getting away with it: it's more than the Labour Party creating a trick phrase that's taken up by the whole nation ('bedroom tax') and I'm so despondent to think that they might be returned to government in 2015.

Where the hell did they go - those movers, shakers and dreamers of the 60s and 70s?  Surely, not into the trades unions and government *sarc*.  If today's reality was their dream then it's my nightmare and I know I'm not alone.  We need to wake up: things must change and only we can change it.

We're all living in fairyland: we're clean out of pigs and the way things are going, dissenters are headed for the gallows.

LGBT's don't have all the fun: the disenfranchised also need to sing out loud :)

    1. Thanks for the link NewsboyCap, you know it's a given. This is all part of globalisation and no localism or Big Society can change a thing. Maybe I've been watching too long but I feel only feet on the street will make a difference now.
