In memory of all those who fought, were wounded or died in that war in the belief that they, their families and we, would have a better future. The audio from about 07:00 onwards is particularly poignant as the video tracks over bodies, graveyard crosses and men weeping. May God bless them all and bring those currently serving, safely home.

I'm surprised those liberated allow you to post this, GV!
ReplyDeleteYes, of course we all know that history didn't really begin until 1946 ;)
DeleteOR,
ReplyDeleteO dear no! Year Zero was May 1997 when Blair came to power and, in his aspirational role as "the heir to Blair" Cameron works to the revolutionary calendar.
A West Country group called the Wurzels summed up the English attitude to history rather well
"Never been to school, never been to college.
Sooner be dead than stuff me 'ead
With a load of useless knowledge.
Never couldn't see no use in history,
'Cause I weren't there, so I don't care,
So don't tell I tell 'e .
The Scots, of course, have a different attitude. I know because I'm married to one.
God rest the souls of these brave men and strengthen the hearts of the survivors still with us.
Imagine the horror. And WWI, Insanity, But evil must always be opposed.
ReplyDeleteEngland had such great spirit during WWII. I never saw anything in any venue that indicated the British were anything but brilliant, hard working and balls to the wall pound that SOB hitler back to hell.
Imagine if that didn't happen...
